Ready for baby Bailey, who would've guessed I was dilated to a nine?

Wow!! It's been a while since I have updated. I guess thats what happens when you have a baby! I will start with my labor story since I want to remember it. Sunday October 11 I went to church feeling fine. During sacrament meeting I had a few contractions, but nothing major. I started getting excited thinking maybe they would continue, but did not want to get my hopes up! I then went on to the next two meetings during which I teach the Sunbeams class. I had a few more, but still thought nothing of it. When church was over I came home and started feeding JJ lunch. It seemed as if all the sudden my contractions started to become regular and a little more uncomfortable. At that point I seriously started thinking that my little girl could be coming soon, but still did not want to get my hopes up. I put JJ down for a nap and then went and tried to take a nap myself incase I did go into labor I would be well rested. Well, my nap did not last for too long because I was trying to keep track of how far apart my contractions were, and they were uncomfortable enough I could not fall asleep! I decided I would get up and pack a hospital bag since the last time I went into labor I only brought a few needed items to the hospital because I really thought they would just send me home. I started packing my hospital bag and at that point I realized that I really was in labor and that the contractions were not going to stop. I called my mom to let her know and was a little disappointed because my mom was flying in the next day and I really wanted her to be here. She immediately called the airport and got on the first flight she could. I was so excited thinking my mom would fly in and then at that point I would be ready to deliver. Little did I know that would not be happening. After packing my bag I called my friend to see if JJ could go over to her house, and if needed spend the night. Good thing I have such good friends out here. I then continued to try and put off going to the hospital, because I did not want to have to just sit in my hospital bed and wait for the baby to come. So being the clean freak I am I decided I would straighten up the house before leaving. I just hate coming home to a messy house, so I knew I better make sure it was clean. It had now been about two hours since I had been having good regular contractions so I decided we better start heading to the hospital. We woke JJ up from his nap, packed up the car, and took JJ over to my friend Amber's house. I was a little sad leaving JJ knowing that when we came home he would have a little sister, and his whole life was going to change. He would no longer be getting all of our attention. We then had to make a mandatory stop at Panda Express for Josh so he would have the strength and energy to get through the labor!! Ha ha. I had no interest in eating, but last time josh was starving so he thought he would be prepared this time. On our way to the hospital my contractions started coming even closer together and getting more uncomfortable, but I still was thinking I would not deliver for a while. We got to the hospital and did all the routine stuff. Since I didn't seem to be in to much pain, the nurses nor I were in a hurry to check and see how far dilated I was. After getting all checked in and filling out all the necessary paperwork they decided they would check me to see how far along I was. The nurse I had had been working in labor and delivery for about ten years so she knew what she was doing. When she checked me she was having a hard time finding my cervix. Much to her surprise it was because I was almost completely dilated. She was so surprised she thought I was dilated to 8 1/2 or 9. Since I was not in too much pain she thought she would have another nurse check to make sure before calling the doctor in to deliver the baby. The other nurse came in and checked me and yes, I was dilated to a 9. I was completely shocked!! How was I dilated to a 9? I was worried I would get to the hospital and they would send me home!! So I immediately told them to call the anesthesia doctor so that he could hurry and place my epidural. They tried to in a round about way tell me I would not have time for an epidural, and when I finally realized that I was not going to get an epidural I started feeling a little anxious and not to sure if I could deliver this baby. I always thought that in order to go all natural and not have an epidural you had to prepare. Wow was I wrong. I guess when you have no choice you have to do what you have to do. I then also realized that my mom was still not going to make it to this delivery even though she was already on her way. The rest of the delivery was very fast. I had great nurses and doctor and husband that were great at talking me through it and helping me breath. They were also good at cheering me on when I did not want to push anymore because of the pain! I luckily only had to push for about four sets of contractions until Bailey made her way into the world. When she finally came out it was the best feeling of relief and accomplishment. I finally got to meet my baby girl and hold her in my arms. What a wonderful and touching moment. All the scares she put us through and to finally have her here and completely healthy was such a blessing and miracle. I am so grateful that I have been blessed to have two healthy children and have been trusted to be their mother.

Wow, I can't believe you didn't have an epidural! That is pretty impressive. That's pretty crazy you were already dilated to a 9 when you got there. It was that stop for Panda Express. ha ha You look so good before, during and after! Well congratulations. She's so gorgeous!

You are one tough mama! Seriously! No epidural? You go girl! :)

She is a beautiful baby. She actually looks like she belongs to you! (although, Josh does look a lot like your dad and brothers, just a blonde haired, blue-eyed version).

Congrats, Brit. We can't wait to meet her!

Okay, I had to clarify... she looks like she belongs to you because of all that dark hair (I hope you knew that is what I meant! Ha ha!).
